Hoff-Barthelson Music School presents MAGPIE
The Hoff-Barthelson Music School is pleased to announce that this is the 26th anniversary year of its Contemporary Music Festival, Celebration 2015: The Music of Our Time.
This year’s special event will be a guest performance by Magpie which will honor the birthday of John Brown with a family program entitled John Brown: Sword of the Spirit that celebrates the life and times of our most original American abolitionist. With a career that has spanned more than forty years, Magpie has traveled the globe, bringing its unique sound and breathtaking versatility to audiences everywhere. From Americana traditional songs to vintage blues, swing and country to folk classics to contemporary and stirring original compositions, they cover a lot of musical ground. Award-winning recording artists, songwriters, musical historians, and social activists, Terry Leonino and Greg Artzner are proud to be, as the legendary Pete Seeger said of them, “…more links in the chain”, dedicating their lives and music to leaving this world a better place.
