New Rochelle Plays Hollywood: “The Clock” (1945)

It’s wartime and two young people fall in love with the clock ticking toward the end of the young man’s short leave. Judy Garland at her most appealing—and she doesn’t sing a note.  This film is a perfect blend of comedy, romance and New York in the wartime forties, and is one of Minelli and Garland’s most heartfelt films, combined with a real behind the scenes love story taking place before our eyes.

Starring Judy Garland, Robert Walker, James Gleason, Keenan Wynn; directed by Vincente Minelli; 90 minutes

New Rochelle Plays Hollywood is a  film series presented by the New Rochelle Public Library. Prior to the screening, film aficionado Les Srager will introduce the history of the film and its creative personnel with a discussion period following the screening.
