Frequent Melville collaborator Alain Delon (Un Flic, Le Samouraï) plays a master thief, fresh out of prison, who crosses paths with a notorious escapee (Gian Maria Volonté, Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion) and an alcoholic ex-cop (Yves Montand, The Wages of Fear).
