Black is Beautiful: Celebrate Diversity! Music, Dance & Art on ZOOM

Monday, February 1 @ 6:30 pm on Zoom

In celebration of Black History Month!

Come on Board!!!!!!  De Barrio a Barrio: Sleepy Hollow-Tarrytown and the World! Family Workshop
Let’s come together through music and dance to celebrate the  beauty of our diverse community in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, and the beauty of people of color throughout the globe! The creators of the video “Black is Beautiful”- Producer and composer Pablo Mayor and Folklore Urbano NYC musician and Managing Director Anna Povich de Mayor, along with Dance Director and choreographer Daniel Fetecua—will lead young and old in the movements and rhythms inspired by the words and music “Black is Beautiful” recorded and released recently by Folklore Urbano NYC. Join us in a live virtual event as Pablo explains what went into composing the song, and Daniel teaches the choreography from the video.  After, share in a communal viewing of the video, and a Q & A to discuss what this means to our own community!

Sign-up for this family friendly zoom event: via: warnerjuvprograms@gmail.com.

The program is in English and Spanish!

The song “Black is Beautiful” accomplishes the mission of its composers: to become a bridge between continents and people, featuring moments captured on mobile phones, of young and old from India to Mexico, from Spain to Colombia, the birthplace of both choreographer Daniel Fetecua and musician and Producer Pablo Mayor. Dancers from Benin (West Africa), the native country of lead vocalist Laurent Hounsavi, and Côte d’Ivoire, as well as from numerous cities across the USA, come together to sing along and perform the choreography to the chorus of the song.
