Art Tour: The Armory Show

The Armory Show is New York City’s premier art fair and a leading cultural destination for discovering and collecting the world’s most important 20th- and 21st-century art.

This tour will focus on three specially curated exhibits:

FOCUS includes projects that consider the ways in which artists construct a version of reality or self where the boundaries of fact and fiction are indistinct. Curated by Jamillah James, Institute of Contemporary Art, LA.

PERSPECTIVES is a new historical section that is evocative of the early days of the fair, when booths featured daring, gritty, and even whimsical presentations. Curated by Nora Burnett Abrams, Mark G. Falcone Director, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver.

PLATFORM is devoted to large-scale installations and performances that respond to and activate the fair’s industrial venue. Curated by Anne Ellegood, newly appointed ED of Institute of Contemporary Art, LC. Free time will be allotted to roam the core section of The Armory.

Meet at The Rye Arts Center at 11:00 am and transportation will be provided to the tour.
Depart for Rye by 4:00 pm.
