Retrospective of the Lincoln Avenue Corridor at the Rotunda Gallery

The New Rochelle Council on the Arts’ Rotunda Gallery presents “A Retrospective of the Lincoln Avenue Corridor,” on exhibit through April 15^th. The exhibit, timed to celebrate Black History Month, includes historic photos, memorabilia, newspaper clippings and more that highlight the history of this New Rochelle neighborhood.

The exhibit provides historical context for the planned redevelopment of the Lincoln Avenue corridor: In 2018 New Rochelle was selected as the winner of New York State’s $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative in the Mid-Hudson Region, and the project will connect New Rochelle’s evolving city center with the mile-long Lincoln Avenue Corridor that contains mixed-income residential housing, a newly renovated hospital, green space, a Metro North Train Station and part of the city’s Arts and Cultural District. The city envisions infrastructure improvements that will improve pedestrian and traffic circulation and extend the downtown’s walkable, sustainable, transit-oriented design into this corridor.

The opening reception will take place Tuesday, February 11^th from 5 pm to 7 pm in NRCA’s Rotunda Gallery at New Rochelle City Hall, 515 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801. (Entrance is in the rear of the building; the gallery, which is located on the main floor, is wheel chair accessible.) “A Retrospective of the Lincoln Avenue Corridor” can be viewed at the NRCA Rotunda Gallery Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm. Parking is available in the rear of building.
