Pelham Art Center and the Teen Artist Council present: Careers in the Arts with Laurenn McCubbin
Pelham Art Center and the Teen Artist Council present the 2024 Careers in the Arts lecture series. Join us for a Zoom lecture with Laurenn McCubbin, comics editor and Chair of Comics and Narrative Practice at the Columbus College of Art & Design.
Laurenn McCubbin has a BFA from School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and an MFA in Experimental & Documentary Art from Duke University. She has worked in comics since 2002, winning a Xeric Grant for her first book in 2002, and selling her graphic novel RENT GIRL (with writer Michelle Tea) to Showtime in 2007. She’s drawn comics and graphic novels for McSweeneys, Marvel Comics, Vertigo, Last Gasp and Dark Horse. She was the Art Director for Image Comics, and is currently the in-house designer for Milkfed Criminal Masterminds, and editor for MOONSTRUCK and SFSX with Image Comics. She also helps organize the annual Cartoon Crossroads Columbus festival (also known as CXC), which takes place in Columbus, Ohio every September.
