MASTERCLASS – Life Casting with Kelly McGrath
In this adult workshop, artist and educator Kelly McGrath will walk students through the
process of mold-making. Each participant will leave the workshop with a cast replica of one’s hand made entirely out of wax. Bring a precious object for your wax hand to hold or make an unforgettable candle.
About the Instructor:Kelly Anne McGrath explores the figure in a variety of materials and methods. Through sculpture and paintings, she engages the viewer in a reflective visual dialogue that explores what it means to be human, fragile, and simultaneously a part of and disconnected from one’s surrounding environs.
McGrath is currently based in New York’s Hudson Valley. After serving as the Director of Education at R&F Handmade Paints, she was inspired to return to school to expand her ability to teach in the arts. She has taught through a variety of arts organizations including: Castle Hill Center for the Arts, Women’s Studio Workshop and R&F. Her deep engagement as an educator has not slowed her creative momentum as she continues to engage in an active and exploratory studio practice.
