Free First Fridays: Spanglish Fly

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Spanglish Fly, whose twelve members describe themselves as “part band, part celebration.” Hailed as the premier band of the Latin boogaloo revival, Spanglish Fly plays irresistible grooves that blend Afro-Caribbean rhythms with the fervor, feeling, and harmonics of 60s soul. Boogaloo or bugalú is a genre of Latin music and soul/R&B that emerged from the clubs, street corners, transistor radios, and pool halls of 1960s Spanish Harlem, also known as “El Barrio.” They will perform sets at 5:30 and 6:30pm.

In addition, get creative in a bilingual sketching workshop with Carolina Amarillo in the galleries, and enjoy our current exhibitions. Cash bar.
