Choreography Showcase
A Choreography Showcase, presented by the Steffi Nossen Dance Foundation, brings together notable professional choreographers and artists along with pre-professional dancers from across the region in a unique performance designed to highlight new, innovative work. It will take place at The Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00PM A Q&A after the show with all the dancers and choreographers is a great opportunity for both the audience members and choreographers to gain feedback and insight into the choreographic process and audience perception of the work.
North Salem choreographer and dance educator Jessica DiMauro Marks, Artistic Director of the STeffi Nossen Dance Foundationis the showcase producer and will be presenting an original solo accompanist, live, by percussionist Zach Marks. A Mount Kisco native and STeffi Nossen alunma, her work has been shown at venues throughout the area. Her company, DiMauareo Dance has been selected to perform at numerous festivals and curated showcases including White Wave’s COOL NY Dance Festival and The HATCH. Ms. DiMauro is on the dance faculty of Montclair State University.
She will be joined by Pleasantville choreographer and Jose Limon alumni Jonathan Riedel who will present “Brittle Branches” performed by Riedel Dance Theater Company members Mandy Kisrschner Salva and Lorena Egan-Alverado.
Also on the program are choreographers Amy Marshall and Laurie De Vito who have been commissioned by the Foundation to create work on the Steffi Nossen Dance Company; Spencer Pond, founder of The American Jazz Company, who will present a work utilizing jazz’s many roots – soft shoe, lindy hop, and movie musicals to Chopin; William Briscoe’s company, sixteen94; Rhamzi A. Burks and HN.trepid Dance; Jennifer Chin for JENNIFERCHINdance; andMaxine Steinman – Maxine Steinman & Dancers. Join the choreographers and dancers for a post performance Q&A.
