Artist Talk and Workshop: Belongings as Witnesses

Anindita Dutta, whose work is on view in No Bodies: Clothing as Disruptor, leads an artist talk and interactive workshop that provides insight into her creative practice and invites you to explore the deep connections between personal memories and the everyday objects in your life. To participate fully, you are encouraged to bring an object that holds personal significance, or is tied to a memory, to practice your storytelling skills. Following the talk and workshop, Dutta will also present a performance art piece in the galleries.

Anindita Dutta, born in Bihar, India, is a sculptor and performance artist currently based in the United States. She holds a BFA in sculpture from Visva Bharati University, India, an MA in sculpture/ceramics from Purdue University, USA, and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Iowa, USA. Anindita’s work has been exhibited both in the US and internationally, including at the Sean Kelly Gallery in New York; Fukuoka Asian Art Museum in Japan; Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology in Beijing, China; and CAMAC in Marnay-sur-Seine, France. She has received numerous prestigious grants and fellowships, such as the TOY Fellow and the NXTHVN Fellowship in New Haven, CT, the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum Artist Residency Grant in Japan, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, a residency at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists Fellowship. In addition, her works are part of several esteemed collections, both here and abroad.
