Art on Paper: Interpretive Stories and Iconic Symbols – A Solo Exhibition by Diane Cherr
August 6, 2014 – New Rochelle, NY – The Lazarus Gallery of United Hebrew of New Rochelle will present a solo exhibition entitled Art on Paper, by renowned local artist Diane Cherr, September 13 through October 17th. Cherr works with rich colors, intricate designs and narrative stories. She primarily works on handmade paper, interpreting stories and concepts paying homage to women’s empowerment, eastern philosophy, mythology and Jewish heritage and traditions. She also uses iconic symbols, such as trees, moons, hearts, pomegranates and biblical references in her work.
Each work is unique, whether painting in gouache, creating collages, mixed media, drawing or printmaking. “Art on Paper” will include interpretations of many biblical stories such as Jonah, Noah’s Ark and Ruth and Naomi.
Cherr has widely shown in exhibits and galleries throughout Westchester County including the Katonah Museum, The Blue Door Gallery in Yonkers, Upstream Gallery in Hastings-on-Hudson, Madelyn Jordon Fine Art in Scarsdale and the Mamaroneck Artists Guild. She frequently is featured in the Bet Am Shalom Judaica Craft Show.
The exhibit is free and open to the public daily, 9-5 at United Hebrew’s Lazarus Gallery, 391 Pelham Road, New Rochelle, New York 10583. For more information contact Linda Forman, Senior Advisor to the President, United Hebrew,
