An Evening with D. Nurske & Alison Jarvis


D. Nurkse is the author of ten collections of poetry, most recently Love in the Last Days: After Tristan and Iseult (Knopf, 2017) and A Night in Brooklyn (Knopf, 2012). He is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships including those from the Guggenheim Foundation and the NEA. Nurkse has written on human rights and was elected to the board of Amnesty International-USA for a 2007-2010 term. His parents escaped Nazi Europe during World War II. He has taught poetry at Rikers Island Correctional Facility and currently teaches at Sarah Lawrence College.

 

Alison Jarvis will read from Where is North (Silverfish Review Press, 2016), winner of the Gerald Cable First Book Award. She is a recipient of the Lyric Poetry Prize from the Poetry Society of America, the Mudfish Poetry Prize, the Guy Owen Prize from Southern Poetry Review, and a Fellowship from the MacDowell Colony.
