An Author’s Reading with BAC Residency Alumni A.J. Bermudez
Join us Saturday, December 10, 2022 2-4PM for a reading with Bethany residency alumni, Author A.J Bermudez
A.J. Bermudez is thrilled to return to Bethany Arts Community, where she was a 2021 artist-in-residence, and to share work from her new book, Stories No One Hopes Are About Them. The collection won the 2022 Iowa Short Fiction Award, and centers on themes of power, privilege, and place. Anthony Marra has called the collection “absolutely brilliant” and Publishers Weekly’s starred review calls it a “must-read.” The first story in the collection, “The Real India,” was developed in part at Bethany Arts Community and appears in the Fall 2022 issue of Virginia Quarterly Review. The event will include an artist talk, during which Bermudez will discuss intersections of contemporary writing and community, as well as a reading, book signing, and Q&A. Light refreshments will be served.
