New Rochelle Plays Hollywood A Film Series at the New Rochelle Public Library: The Naked City

New Rochelle Plays Hollywood is a new film series presented by the New Rochelle Public Library. Prior to the screening, film Aficionado Les Srager will comment on the film’s history, and creative personnel. A discussion of the film will follow the screening.

The fall series will feature films of New York, and will kick off with The Naked City (1948) starring Barry Fitzgerald, Don Taylor and Howard Duff. Directed by Jules Dassin (96 min.)

This film is the first feature film made entirely in New York City. The heat and grit of the city is as much a part of the film as the actors and the story of the investigation into the death of a young model. Nominated for three Academy Awards; won two.
