Women of Protest
Photographs by Ocean Morisset
Women have had ample reason to protest since the beginning of time, whether it was for voting rights, reproductive rights, or most recently, against sexual predators holding powerful positions. In my experience of documenting social movements over the years, it has been hard not to notice the women at the forefront, oftentimes being the most vocal and expressive.
At demonstration’s relating to police brutality for example (Black Lives Matter movement), women have staked their position in these protests as vocal opponents to social injustice everywhere. This exhibition is a celebration of the strength and bravery of all the women and girls who have taken to the streets and stood up for what they believe in.
