On the Divide: Screening + Filmmaker Q&A

|

On the Divide follows the story of three Latinx people living in McAllen, Texas, who—despite their views—are connected by the most unexpected of places: the last abortion clinic on the U.S./Mexico border. As threats to the clinic and their personal safety mount, these three are forced to make decisions they never could have previously imagined. Directed by Creative Culture alums Maya Cueva and Leah Galant, “On the Divide tells a vital story, so important to where we are today as a nation” (Christopher Llewellyn Reed, Hammer to Nail). Join us Saturday, April 9 at 7:00 for a special screening, followed by a Q&A with filmmakers and Creative Culture alums Leah Galant and Maya Cueva!

Leah Galant and Maya Cueva are award-winning filmmakers who met at Ithaca College. Together, they directed the SXSW short The Provider, which was nominated for a Student Emmy. As Jacob Burns Film Center and Sundance Ignite Fellows, they created their respective films that center womxn, elder, and immigration stories.
