Jazz on Main with Kaya Nicole Quartet

Kaya Nicole is a vocalist, guitarist and composer originally from New York City. Influenced by her proximity to jazz and hip hop in the city that never sleeps, Kaya is a lover of a groove with a rhythmic and sultry vocal style. She is trained in classical guitar and piano, and spent five years as a musician in New Orleans, learning from the greats in the art of improvisation, performing on local stages such as Jazzfest and Champion’s Square.

In December 2021, Kaya released a solo album of covers entitled: “Moody: A Selection of Songs for Everyday Sadness.” She performs jazz, neo soul, folk, blues, bossa nova and hip hop, and has even been known to break into rap at least once a show to pay homage to her New York roots. Recipient of the Arts Alive grant and participant of the New York Foundation of the Arts fiscally sponsored program, Kaya continues her legacy of storytelling through her debut original project: “Magnolias,” going into production in 2023.
