Julia Breanetta Simpson traces the evolution of American music from the time of Slavery to the Jazz Age. “How Sweet The Sound” encompasses dance, spirituals, gospel hymns and so much more while highlighting the music of such notable American Composers as Scott Joplin, J. Rosamond Johnson and Thomas A. Dorsey.
This program is suitable for audiences ages five and up.
