Django

A musical and cinematic treat, Django reimagines a dramatic period in the life of legendary jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, played by a charismatic Reda Kateb (A Prophet, Zero Dark Thirty). The toast of 1943 Paris, Django thrilled audiences with his distinctive brand of “le jazz hot” and won admirers including his muse, Louise de Klerk (Cécile de France). But Nazi occupiers counted two strikes against him—his “degenerate” music and his Roma (“gypsy”) heritage—forcing him to fear for the safety of his family and community and attempt a daring escape to Switzerland. An evocative story of the power of music to overcome oppression, with exceptional performances. New to Jazz Sessions!
