Christ Stopped at Eboli

In the 1930s Carlo Levi (Gian Maria Volontè), a man of letters, was exiled to an impoverished southern Italian town as punishment for his anti-Fascist activities. Years later, he wrote a bestselling memoir describing the humanity he found in the seemingly backward hamlet. The book was adapted into a miniseries for Italian television, which was then cut in half for its 1980 US film release. Finally, four decades later, we can now see Rosi’s complete uncut 220-minute epic the way it was intended to be seen. Don’t miss this opportunity at the theater! There are currently no plans for a home video or streaming release.

Runtime includes an intermission
