Join us for an exciting and varied afternoon of dance on Saturday, November 1st at 3:00 pm at the SUNY Purchase Dance Theatre Laboratory. It will feature the work of emerging professional choreographers in a variety of work and will be followed by a Q&A with choreographers and dancers.
Choreographer Gierre Godley, Artistic Director of PROJECT 44, an all-male company that has toured work in the tri-state area and throughout Europe and co-producer of Dance Soiree, a showcase of emerging choreography in New York and Miami, will produce the concert. In addition to premiering a work on the program he will lead the always lively post performance Q&A.- the perfect opportunity to enter into the creative process and have all your dance questions answered directly by choreographers and dancers.
The event will feature a new work by Mt. Kisco choreographer Jessica DiMauro, who has set a new work on the Steffi Nossen Dance Company, a group of 13 pre-professional young dancers who are selected by audition to the storied performance group. A Steffi Nossen alumna, her company, DiMauro Dance, has been performing for over nine years, showing at venues throughout the tri-state area. The company has been selected to perform at numerous festivals and curated showcases including White Wave’s COOL NY Dance Festival, and The HATCH.
The Steffi Nossen Dance Company will also show an excerpt from Annmaria Mazzini’s “Liberty Park (after dark)”. Ms. Mazzini, who was a principal with Paul Taylor Dance Company for twelve years is artistic director of Mazzini Dance Collective and Choreographer in Residence for American Modern Ensemble.
Also on the program will be works by Dante Brown who teaches at Westchester Community College, Cheryl Copeland who has been a Choreography Under the Stars finalist and won a Young Choreographer’s award from NYCD and several outstanding choreography awards from various dance competitions and has set a work on the Peridance Youth Ensemble, Aaron McGloin, Nick Neagle, Bryan Strimpel who was selected as one of Dance Magazine’s 2013 “Top 25 to Watch”, and Manuel Vignoulle, who has danced with French contemporary companies and in New York with Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet. Collectively, they have shown their work at such prestigious dance venues as Joyce Soho, Dance New Amsterdam, Joe’s Pub, Triskelion Arts, The Abrons Arts Center, and more.
