Bring a Friend!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, Marcy B. Freedman presents a performance for couples called “Bring a Friend.” Using conversation & humor, the artist explores love interactively.

In a departure from her usual “one-on-one” form of performance art, Marcy will invite participants to come in pairs! These twosomes may consist of friends, lovers, spouses, siblings, parent and child, etc. She will invite each “couple” to sit down and chat about the nature of their relationship. Hopefully, the artist and the participants will learn something about the ties that bind one human being to another. Additionally, this project, like all of Freedman’s interactive work, will serve as an antidote to the virtual forms of communication (email, texting, social networking) that have come to dominate our personal interactions. Freedman wants to remind us all of the power and importance of real, face-to-face human interaction!
