Pianist Steven Beck in Concert, Celebrating Bridge Records

Bridge Records — founded in 1981, and based in New Rochelle since 1996 —  was praised by The Washington Post for its “highly selective and consistently excellent catalog.”  The recipient of 36 Grammy nominations and four Grammy awards, Bridge Records features a broad range of music including classical, jazz, world and electronic.  To celebrate Bridge, as part of this year’s ArtsFest the New Rochelle Council on the Arts will present a concert and art exhibition at the New Rochelle Public Library on Friday, October 21 at 7 pm.  Featured Bridge artists are the pianist Steven Beck, playing music by prominent American composers George Walker (the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music,  which he received for his work Lilacs in 1996) and William Bland (aka C. Damon Carter), alongside an exhibition of C. Damon Carter’s paintings.  Label President Becky Starobin and A & R Director David Starobin will also speak about the music and artwork on display.
