Vo(i)ces and Madres
NEA Choreographic Fellow Rebeca Tomas will present her newest work, Vo(i)ces — A RAW CSA commissioned project that explores and re-interprets the human voice, movement, rhythm, music, and through the lenses of different cultures and genders. Tomas’s work creates a contemporary deconstruction of a traditional and culturally specific dance form – Flamenco.
Also being presented is MADRES Y HIJAS, an original film short by filmmaker and choreographer Marta Renzi. The film was developed with support from a RAW CSA commission and engages low-income mothers and daughters from the local Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow community in the development of shared movement language and story over the course of two months.
The program will be followed by a post-performance discussion with the artists – a RAW TALK program.
This event is part of ARTSEE, a festival showcasing new works of art throughout Westchester County in celebration of ArtsWestchester’s 50th anniversary.
