Crossing Borders: Memory and Heritage in a New America, Opening Reception
Please join us as we kick off ARTSEE, a five-month festival of new work, at the opening reception of Crossing Borders: Memory and Heritage in a New America in ArtsWestchester’s gallery.
RSVP required.
Debuting commissioned and new work by first generation and new American artists, Crossing Borders: Memory and Heritage in a New America is a provocative contemporary art exhibition exploring memory, identity, and cross-culturalism within New York’s immigrant community. The exhibiting artists, who represent nine nationalities, employ their autobiographies as artistic tools. Ranging from site-specific installations to photography to sculpture, the works embody a universal desire to build a bright future in a new place while remaining rooted in the past and connected to family legacy.
Crossing Borders is presented thanks to a major grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
