Charlie Chaplin Shorts w/ Live Music by Not So Silent Cinema

| |

With live music by the Not So Silent Cinema Trio. Come to see Chaplin’s The Adventurer, The Cure, and The Pawnshop. Made for the Mutual Film Company in 1916–17, these shorts showcase the Little Tramp’s hilarious acting, directing, and writing, which helped shaped the course of movie history.

Brendan Cooney’s new scores add to the fun. At first, the melodies sound familiar (Chopin’s “Minute Waltz,” Schubert’s “Ave Maria”) but they gradually morph into something completely different: a boogie-woogie, for example, or a boisterous drinking song. The music will be performed live on stage by Martha Hyde on clarinet, Carlos Santiago on violin, and Brendan Cooney on piano.
