Cuarteto Latinoamericano takes the WCMS stage as part of their Final World Tour
Rye, NY – The Westchester Chamber Music Society (WCMS) proudly presents the internationally acclaimed Cuarteto Latinoamericano on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester (2125 Westchester Avenue, Rye, NY). The concert will be followed by a Wine & Cheese Reception with the musicians.
This special performance marks part of Cuarteto Latinoamericano’s Final World Tour, a historic moment for one of Latin America’s most celebrated string quartets. The ensemble—featuring Saúl Bitrán, violin; Arón Bitrán, violin; Javier Montiel, viola; and Álvaro Bitrán, cello—has captivated audiences around the globe for over four decades.
The afternoon’s rich and colorful repertoire includes – Heitor Villa-Lobos – String Quartet No. 17 (1957); George Gershwin – Lullaby; Astor Piazzolla – Four for Tango; Samuel Barber – Adagio for Strings, Op. 11; Antonín Dvořák – String Quartet in F major, Op. 96 (“American”)

Cuarteto Latinoamericano, founded in 1981, an essential voice in Latin American classical music. The ensemble has toured extensively across Europe, the Americas, Israel, China, Japan, and New Zealand, premiering over 100 works written for them.
The Cuarteto has collaborated with luminaries such as János Starker, Sharon Isbin, Manuel Barrueco, and Ramón Vargas, and served as Quartet-in-Residence at Carnegie Mellon University from 1987 to 2008. Their recordings have earned multiple Latin Grammy Awards, including Best Classical Album, and have received accolades from Gramophone, The New York Times, and BBC Music Magazine. This performance represents one of their final opportunities to be heard live in the U.S.
For 75 years, the Westchester Chamber Music Society has brought world-class chamber music to Rye and the greater Westchester community. WCMS has presented distinguished artists including Yo-Yo Ma, the Emerson and Brentano Quartets, and the Amerigo Trio, featuring Glenn Dicterow, former long-time concert master of the New York Philharmonic. Each year, WCMS offers five concerts in an intimate setting with exceptional acoustics—performed live and streamed online for remote audiences.
