The Westchester Chamber Music Society is celebrating its 69th anniversary during the 2019-2020 season. Led by co-presidents Dr. Caroline Bauman and Shelley Lotter, The Westchester Chamber Music Society has been bringing first-rate artists to Westchester, including the renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma; the Amerigo Trio, with violinist Glenn Dicterow; the Emerson, Brentano, and Kalichstein ensembles; and award-winning young talent, including the Dover String Quartet. WCMS presents five concerts each year on Sunday afternoons at 4pm at Congregation Emanuel-El of Westchester on Westchester Avenue in Rye, just east of Kenilworth Road. The performance space is conveniently located minutes from The Cross-Westchester (Route 287) near Exit 9, and there is plenty of convenient, accessible, free parking at the venue. Internationally celebrated ensembles enjoy performing at the society’s concerts for the same reasons that subscribers like to attend. The acoustics are outstanding, the audiences are knowledgeable, and both performers and audiences welcome the opportunity to meet each other and the musicians at the reception after each concert. Audience members like being close to the musicians in the semi-circular open seating area. They also appreciate the original, detailed program notes.
