Reception | Great Migration and Memorial Highway
The NRCA Rotunda Gallery presents Great Migration + Memorial Highway, providing a fresh look at New Rochelle’s historic Black neighborhoods. The exhibit is on view August 3rd through August 31st, weekdays 10am-4pm.
Last fall, a dozen students at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design worked in tandem with a dozen residents of New Rochelle to consider challenges facing the historic Black neighborhoods affected by the dramatic growth of downtown development. The collaborative results are eight specific projects of urban design, landscape architecture, community development and policy ideas focused on community health, cultural exchange and memory, food access, affordable housing, public mobility and safety, and re-building a local economy.
