NT Live’s Antony and Cleopatra

Caesar and his assassins are dead, and General Mark Antony and Egyptian Queen Cleopatra have fallen in love. Ralph Fiennes (NT Live’s Man and Superman, Skyfall) and Sophie Okonedo (The Hollow Crown, Hotel Rwanda) play the famously ill-fated couple in this hotly anticipated production. Director Simon Godwin (Twelfth Night) sees Shakespeare’s great tragedy of politics, passion, and power as both love story and political theater, “not quite Romeo and Juliet and not quite Julius Caesar but a bit of both.”
