Zlatomir Fung, cello, concert

This 10th recipient of our Performance Award, presented to a winner of the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, will perform with piano collaborator Richard Fu.  He is a regular member of the Jupiter Chamber Players, and has been a soloists with many symphonic groups.  In March 2019 he was awarded first prize and a Gold Medal in Russia’s prestigious XVI Tchaikovsky Competition, when he performed Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations and Shostakovich’s Concerto No. 2 with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

His program will include Gabrieli’s Cello Sonata No. 1 in G Major; Myaskovsky’s Cello Sonata No. 2, Op. 81; Carter’s Figment No. 1; Faure’s Romance for Cello and Piano, Op. 69; and Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 3 in A Major, Op. 69; as well as the premiere of Kitaroidia by Marshall Estrin.
