Yes Yonkers! Community Quilt Project
The Yes Yonkers! Community Quilt Project hosts a pop-up creation station at the Hudson River Museum. This all-inclusive community art project is designed to celebrate Yonkers, family, life, and unity. Each participant is encouraged to create art, write a message, or share positive words on a 10-inch square canvas swatch. These swatches will be joined together to create the largest piece of art in Yonkers history. Followed by a tour of Art & Identity: Highlights from the Collections of the Hudson River Museum and Art Bridges.
“Art & Identity” features works by prominent African American artists David Clyde Driskell, Barkley L. Hendricks, and Kerry James Marshall, on loan from Art Bridges. Their paintings and the Museum’s works of art chosen for this installation make powerful statements about identity. We invite everyone to discover personal and community connections through these works of art and to look at portraiture and other figural art in new ways.
