Yard Byard: The Music of Jaki Byard
Jaki Byard is brought back to life through the Yard Byard’s lively performances consisting of flute, drums, bass, guitar, clarinet and tenor saxophone.
Almost all five performers of Yard Byard studied with the late, great Jaki Byard at the New England Conservatory of Music, giving them a personal attachment to Jaki and a passion to help his music live on. Though not having a pianist may complicate the idea of a piano tribute, the lack of one also helps the Yard Byards reimagine Jaki’s music in new and creative ways.
