Description

This is a six-week class that starts on Thursday November 7th and ends on Thursday December 19th. It will not meet on Thanksgiving.

The Wide World: Translating Poetry

There is nothing so beautiful as transforming a poem from a foreign language into your own language. In this class we will work on translating poems from any language into English. If you have not yet chosen a poet, I will help you choose your poet. At the start, we will work on texts already translated, so as to have a comparison text to consult. We will talk about voice, rhythm, style, tone, and diction level; we will learn the pleasure of perusing dictionaries and thesauruses. Full attention will be given to your texts at every meeting. All skill levels are welcome.

Tickets for this 6 week session are $320. Please register at
