Writing, Revising, and Publishing Short Fiction with Beth Hahn


This is a six-week class that starts on Wednesday November 6th and ends on December 18th. No class on November 27th.

Writing, Revising, and Publishing Short Fiction: In this six-week workshop, take your short stories from first to final draft. Gain a deeper understanding of revision through in-class critiques and writing exercises. Experiment with short story forms. Read and discuss work from literary journals. Finally, learn how to craft a cover letter and navigate the submission process. All levels of fiction writers are welcome.

Beth Hahn studied art and English at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania and fiction at Sarah Lawrence College. She attended Breadloaf, and was in residence at the Ragdale Foundation and the Wellstone Center in the Redwoods. Her essays and short stories have appeared in Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood, Writer’s Digest, Necessary Fiction, The Hawai’i Review, The South Carolina Review, and The Emrys Journal. Publications from CRAFT Literary and Platypus Press are forthcoming. THE SINGING BONE (Regan Arts, 2016) is her first novel.

Beth teaches fiction workshops at The Hudson Valley Writers’ Center in Sleepy Hollow, New York. She is also a certified yoga instructor and teaches at local studios and centers.

Beth is the daughter of the popular children’s author Mary Downing Hahn and the sister of the humor writer, Kate Hahn. Beth lives in New Castle, New York, with her husband, and her fiction is represented by Jessica Papin of Dystel, Goderich, and Bourret.
