What are the different age groups and genres in childrens’ books? What are the sentence structure, word count, and subject matter guidelines? Which genres are hot with publishers right now, and which ones are not? How does the submission process work? I worked for a top children’s book agent for many years, and have since published over 40 books for children in every age group, and in multiple genres. I will give you a guided overview of the process, help you identify what age group your work or idea fits into, and assess what the next steps should be for you. I will give detailed suggestions about how and where to find an agent most suited to your work, what to submit and when, and what professional etiquette is with regard to following up your submission, submitting to multiple agents, and withdrawing a submission. Open to all levels of writers. If you have a samples of your work or a specific project you are working on, please bring them.
