World Fest 2017: Romeo and Juliet

|

Shakespeare returns to Untermyer Park! UPAC presented its very first performance of Shakespeare, presenting “Midsummer Night’s Dream” in 1976. Once again we are returning to that tradition and presenting a work of the Bard as interpreted by Hudson Valley Shakespeare at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 22nd.
This year we are featuring William Shakespeare’s ultimate romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. as performed by Hudson Valley Shakespeare. This well-known story, centers on two young star-crossed lovers from families who are long-term enemies. The feud between the Montagues and the Capulets not only disrupts their hometown of Verona, but also prevents Romeo and Juliet from following their destiny of love. Throughout the play, rivalry, hatred, revenge, love, and a secret marriage bring tragic results for the young couple and ultimately reunites their families in grief.
This definitely is another “don’t miss” Untermyer Performing Arts Council World Fest 2017 evening under the stars!
