Westchester Oratorio Society Presents “Sure on this Shining Night”
Westchester Oratorio Society, David Štech, artistic director, continues its 28th season with a Friday evening November 21 performance entitled, “Sure on this Shining Night,” with Benjamin Howard, Baritone and Jonathan B. Hall, Organist. The concert will begin at 7:30 PM at Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco.
The performance showcases the unique and beautiful programming that Mr. Štech has already become known for in just his second year at the helm of the organization. The music ranges from mystical songs and ancient prayers to shape-note hymns and radiant choruses. Featured are works by Felix Mendelssohn and Ralph Vaughan Williams and a medley of choruses and songs from traditional to Barber, Thompson, Stanford, Bach and Billings. What the conductor calls, “a journey from night into light.”
On May 2, 2026, the group, which rehearses Tuesday evenings in Somers, will be presenting “Pagans and Pitchforks” featuring two exceptional works by Felix Mendelssohn, “Psalm 42” and “Die erste Walpurginacht” performed with the WOS concert orchestra.
These concerts are made possible with a grant from The New York Community Trust.
