Westchester Oratorio Society hosts Scratch Messiah Sing-along in Somers


Members of the audience are invited to celebrate the season by joining with the Westchester Oratorio Society’s chamber chorus and the St. Luke’s choir (Joyce Ottinger, music director) to be the chorus at a “Scratch” Messiah (Handel’s “Messiah” sing-along) on Sunday afternoon, December 8, 2019 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Somers, NY at 3 PM.

The Society’s artistic director, Benjamin Niemczyk will conduct, accompanied by Kathryn Jones playing the Church’s wonderful von Beckerath pipe organ with the signature solos of Handel’s masterpiece performed by Catherine Steinbrink, soprano, Sarah Nordin, alto, Drew Watson, tenor and Tyler Putnam, bass.

Come to sing or just to listen and enjoy. Dust off and bring your old score.  Music will also be available for rent.

Earlier in the season WOS presented “Meeting of the Masters—Bach and Mozart” at Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco. This spring, the group, which rehearses on Tuesday evenings at the Katonah Village Library, will present Bach’s “Mass in B minor” on Sunday,  For more information email WOSinformation@gmail.com .
