Youth Weekly Classes (Ages 6 – 16)

January 23 – March 22, 2020

Have your kids Unplug with Mud at Clay Art Center’s award winning weekly youth classes starting January 23rd.  In the classroom, aspiring young artists will have fun and develop their imaginations while working in the transformational medium of clay. Your child will develop creative problem solving skills while building confidence and creating something with their own hands. Hand-building classes are offered for ages 6 – 9, wheel-throwing classes for children ages 10 – 16. Taught by professional ceramic artists who specialize in kindling a passion for creative expression in children. Classes are offered weekly in sessions running for 8 weeks on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Winner Westchester Family Favorite and Kids Out & About Reader Favorite for 2018 & 2019.

Frozen Kingdom (Ages 6 – 9)

Explore the Frozen world! Create one of your favorite characters including a fearless princess, reindeer, or snowman, build their towering castle or make a Frozen themed vessel. Learn how to work with pinch pots, coils, and clay slabs to sculpt the characters and their treasures.

Tween Wheel (Ages 10 – 12)

Learn to use the potter’s wheel to create fun and funky pieces to take home and enjoy for years to come! Center, pull and throw to make pots big and small. Finish all your projects with the glaze of your choice

Teen Wheel (Ages 13 -16)

Sunday, 12:30 – 2:30pm, January 26 – March 22

Center, pull and throw as you learn how to use the potter’s wheel. Explore a variety of functional pottery forms, and go beyond a cup, plate or bowl. Take your pieces off the wheel to alter your forms using advanced techniques and glaze your final pieces with professional studio glazes.

One-Time Classes

Drop In Clay (Ages 5 – 99)

Every Saturday 1:00 – 3:00pm or 3:30 – 5:30pm January 25 – March 28

Fee: $30 Adult, $20 Child under 12

 Unplug with mud in this one-time class for families & friends interested in playing with clay! Every Saturday adults & children explore their inner artist in this 2 hour introduction to clay. Professional ceramic artists guide themed weekly hand-building projects, no previous experience necessary. Children under 12 must attend with a guardian enrolled in the class. Tickets go on sale at the front desk 10am the day of the class, call us at 914-937-2047 to register. First come first served.

Family Wheel Night (Ages 9 – 99)

Fee: $45 per person

 Looking for something fun to do with your family? Adults & kids can get messy and play with clay in this one-time class to learn how to use the potter’s wheel. Plan a great evening and bond with your family while receiving a lesson from experienced and dedicated ceramic artists. Weekends on the Wheel (Ages 9 – 99)

Fee: $45 per person

Take a spin on the potter’s wheel in this one-time class for parents, tweens and teens. This guided class is led by enthusiastic artists with experience teaching both children and adults.
