EXHIBIT: “Folks: Picture Book Paintings by James E. Ransome”
“Folks: Picture Book Paintings by James E. Ransome” features over 50 paintings created during the artist’s career as a children’s book illustrator. James Ransome is a Hudson Valley-based children’s book artist best known for chronicling African-American history. The exhibit will also include two of Ransome’s dummy books, four preliminary tracing paper drawings and color studies, enabling visitors to follow the progression of an illustrated book from concept to final paintings. Lumen Winter Gallery during library hours: Sunday, February 8 – Friday, February 28.
Artist Talk and Reception

James Ransome will discuss his career and his work, and collaborations with his wife, author Lesa Cline-Ransom.James was named one of 75 “authors and illustrators everyone should know” by The Children’s Book Council. He has won numerous awards, including the Coretta Scott King Award for Illustration and the NAACP Image Award for Illustration. Reception is In partnership with the New Rochelle Art Association.
