Virtual Culinary Talk | Thierry Ricard | Center for the Digital Arts | Westchester Community College

Thierry Ricard is the next in our series of virtual culinary talks comprised of three cutting-edge contemporary local Hudson Valley chefs. Due to the Center for the Digital Arts being closed during the pandemic, we would like to bring the chefs to you remotely, showcasing rich culinary practices that you can participate in via Zoom.
Join us for an amazing opportunity to have an intimate exchange with one of these chefs this fall. RSVP to peekskill@sunywcc.edu and receive your Zoom link for this event.

By the age of 14, Thierry had already decided that he wanted to be a chef. That passion was instilled in him by his grandmother, Helena. Though born in Yugoslavia, she quickly embraced the art of French cuisine when she emigrated to Paris at the age of 13. Having been raised by her, it was only natural that passion would be cultivated in Thierry. It was from her, that he learned the value of quality food, seasonal products and buying locally.

With fierce independence, Thierry decided to forego traditional culinary education. At age of 17, he lied in order to get a job as a sous chef in a small, traditional French restaurant in Paris. Over the next several years, he moved from restaurant to restaurant after he felt he had exhausted what there was to learn. By the age of 21, he was Chef at Le Sac a Dos.

Thierry has had a life of travel living in France, Spain, French Polynesia, Reunion Island, South Africa, Madagascar, England, Mauritius Islands, and America. Always, he has increased his knowledge of local cuisine to develop his own, eclectic brand of France fusion cooking.

In addition to working in various restaurants throughout whichever country he decided to call home at the time, Thierry was also employed as a private chef to French politicians and aristocrats. Always eager to share his passion for cooking, he has provided individual and group cooking classes for adults and children. In 2017, he helped to open Tambour in Park Slope, Brooklyn, serving as their original chef.

Thierry is practicing his skills and passion for food into Westchester County. He resides with his family in Cortlandt Manor, and is available as a private chef as well as to plan and prepare private parties, private/group cooking classes for children and adults.
