Virtual Artist Talk on ZOOM | Don Reynolds | Let’s Talk About Underglaze Demo

Don Reynolds will present Let’s Talk About Underglaze, aka, you don’t have to just dunk into that bucket every time! Don will show the process he uses to decorate bone dry ceramic wares with underglazes and wax.  He will have pieces in various stages of the process (like a cooking show!) so he can demonstrate all of the steps to the attendees.  The topics will include: underglaze composition, brands, color mixing, application techniques, decoration and design element techniques. Get ready to learn a lot as Don shares his skills and techniques.

Originally from Farmington Hills, MI, Don Reynolds is a graduate of the University of Michigan – School of Art. Don currently lives in Bridgeport, CT, and teaches at Clay Art Center, and in Wilton, CT for Wilton High School’s Adult Education program.  His ceramic work has been included in many exhibitions throughout the United States.

Artist Statement: I create functional objects that like each of us, are made from the same materials, yet retain their own unique individualities.  Contrasting colors and patterns on simple forms celebrate the diverse range of personalities/possibilities that are revealed as the work progresses.  On their own, the pieces add a bold choice to the daily ritual, while in a group; the similarities illustrate a harmony in their eccentricities.
