Course Description
Exploration in Handbuilding
The goal of this class is to instill a better understanding of design concepts and help you find your own unique style. Various hand building techniques will be explored including carved pinch pots, impressed slabs, double walled forms, coiling and slab forming in simple to make molds. Students will be presented a series of projects that will emphasize form and design, while introducing them to new techniques and new ways of developing original ideas. The class format will include detailed work-along demonstrations, with interactive discussion and personal guidance. Basic glazing techniques will also be demonstrated. Students should have basic to intermediate knowledge of hand building techniques and tools.

If local in the Westchester, NY area, students can come in for a session to glaze their finished work at the end of the 5 week class (firing fees not included). Our glaze session scheduler will be posted soon

Prerequisite: Students must have access to Zoom Video capabilities and basic to intermediate hand building skills.
