West Point Tuba-Euphonium Quartet to Perform

Veterans Day Concert in Memory of Dr. Earl F. Groner

Asbury-Crestwood United Methodist Church is delighted to present the West Point Tuba-Euphonium Quartet for its annual Veterans Day concert, produced under the auspices of the church’s professional concert series, Music at Asbury. The quartet’s program, “A Salute to Veterans,” is a concert of works arranged and written for this unique chamber ensemble – from Palestrina to Berlioz to Sousa to Billy Joel.

Comprised of graduates from America’s finest music schools, the professional musicians of the West Point Band provide world-class music and support to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets and to serve as ambassadors of the United States Military Academy and the Army for local, national, and international communities. The West Point Band’s chamber ensembles perform for official military functions, social occasions, formal concerts, public service and educational youth clinics and concerts.

Dr. Earl F. Groner died July 6, 2019. He was an active member of Asbury UMC and co-founder of Music at Asbury; a nationally-recognized music educator and retired Scarsdale High School teacher; and a proud veteran, having played bass trombone in the 7th Army Symphony Orchestra stationed in Stuttgart, Germany 1960-1961. The Music at Asbury committee is presenting its Veterans Day Concert this year as a tribute to Earl Groner in recognition of his military service.

Music at Asbury was launched in November of 2014 by Lu Gmoser, founding producer of Asbury Summer Theatre, and Dr. Earl F. Groner.  As a program of Asbury-Crestwood United Methodist Church, Music at Asbury is designed to serve as a social service to the community, offering free performances by some of New York City and the Hudson Valley’s finest musical artists. Additional concerts in the season are scheduled for December 8, 2019; February 9, 2020; and April 26, 2020.

Concerts are held in the sanctuary at Asbury United Methodist Church, 167 Scarsdale Rd, Tuckahoe, NY; ample parking is available. Admission is free of charge but reservations are strongly recommended; please visit www.MusicAtAsbury.com or call 914-779-3722 to reserve a general admission seat.
