Valence
Frequently cited as “the bee’s knees” and “the cat’s meow,” Valence takes instrumental prog to new heights through their flirtations with modern metal and eclectic yet cohesive compositions. They’re a breath of fresh air for anyone tired of music formulated to fit into a box, and longs for an unadulterated form of sonic expression. The band won an Independent Music Award for “The Reckoning,” off of their 2014 EP, Laser Baron, a strong follow up to their debut Sleepwalker, also lauded for its “many 180 degree turns in song structure, multiple time signature shifts and a whole heap of anthemic drama.” (Alternative Control) Metal Injection included Valence in their end of 2015 list “10 MORE Awesome Underground Bands You Need In Your Life!” Between the awards and rave reviews, the band has developed a reputation as a crushing force in the tristate and the southern New York music scene, opening for acts such as Consider the Source, Angel Vivaldi, Stu Hamm, and playing the official afterparty for Clutch and The Sword. Bassist Wilhelmus Sapanaro joined the band in Spring 2016, pushing members Geoffrey Schaefer, Michael Buonanno, and Chris Romano into even more challenging and innovative musical territory as the band readies their next endeavor. So stay tuned for their single release of “He Tried To Kill Me With a Forklift” coming soon!
Wess Meets West

Wess Meets West infuse elements of Electronic Music and Post Rock to blend otherworldly soundscapes. They have been featured in Paste Magazine, Electronic Musician magazine, Premier Guitar, NPR Morning Edition, CBS, Wrangler, ESPN’s X-Games and most recently, Spotify’s Deep Focus Playlist which has over three million plays. Wess Meets West has been labeled as a “Top Ten Bands from CT You Need to Know” and a “Top Up-And-Coming Connecticut Bands to Check out in 2016.”

“Wess Meets West labels its own music as “defiantly optimistic,” which is as good a description as anything I can come up with. There’s another pretty good word for it, too: “beautiful,” in an unabashed, even romantic way. For all its complexity, Wess Meets West’s music is always emotionally direct, honest, and engaging. It’s music for taking a long trip in a fast car to a part of the country you’ve never seen, for standing on a high peak — even, dare I say it, for falling in love, like you can only at the end of summer.” – Brian Slattery, New Haven Independent

GEPH

GEPH is an instrumental progressive jazz metal trio riding the very cutting edge of contemporary music. With Josh Goldberg and John Tyler Kent on Chapman Stick, and Josh Merhar on drums, the three of them sound as big as a five-piece, and work to expand the modern conceptions of arranging and composing in a heavy, intense and still succinctly musical format.

After playing shows and festivals all over the north east on their critically acclaimed debut album in the summer of 2016, they raised nearly $10,000 on IndieGoGo to hit the studio and record their second album. The summer of 2017 will see them record the album and once again play all around the region, expanding their reach and influence.
