Tribes Hill Presents…Kindred Folk Music Series

On the third Sunday afternoon of each month, Tribes Hill Presents: Kindred Folk offers the best in regional music in parnership with EMBARK | Peekskill, an intimate performance space in downtown Peekskill. Tribes Hill hopes to continue to build community by sharing the music and stories of these Hudson Valley songwriters. Tribes Hill members share a common goal; for people of all races, politics, and faiths to come together to explore and celebrate the human experience through song.

THE PERFORMERS:
Susan Kane’s sweet and sharp Americana is alchemy of stuff dug from the dirt, born from books, gleaned from the air, yesterday’s news and tomorrow’s dreams. She hooks words onto melodies to create songs she hopes you will remember. www.susankane.com

Reviewers describe Loretta Hagen as ‘heart driven, soul filling, award winning, Folk Americana.‘ Her rich alto voice and strong songwriting skills have led her to win many awards, including a 2013 JAM Awards’ (Jersey Acoustic Music Awards) “Top Female Songwriter of the Year,” JAM nomination for “Album of the Year,” winner of the NJ Folk Festival Songwriter Competition and designation as a CT Folk Festival finalist. www.lorettahagen.com

Solar Punch is an ongoing environmentally-informed solar-powered music project. We work in the U.S. and in South Asia (India and Nepal) to create, communicate and celebrate ideas and solutions to climate challenges. Our current acoustic / folk mode of performance is peppered with Hindi originals, Sanskrit mantras and traditional Nepali folk music. Namaste. www.solarpunch.org

Singer-songwriter Karen Hudson, of the Karen Hudson River Trio has been compared to Rosanne Cash by The Village Voice and to early Linda Ronstadt by 3rd Coast Music Magazine in Austin, Texas. She has opened for Madeliene Peyroux, Walter Salas Humara and Pete Seeger. This is Americana for people who keep The Byrds and The Beatles next to Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline.“She’s an elegant tunesmith, evocative lyricist . . . a subtly nuanced singer.” — New York Music Daily www.karenhudson.com
