The Hudson River Museum sits on traditional lands of the Leni Lenape, the First Peoples to inhabit the Lower Hudson Valley. Celebrate Native American Heritage Day with Thunderbird American Indian Dancers, one of the best-known and the oldest resident Native American dance companies in New York, who will perform social dances in two performances. The troupe was founded in 1963 by a group of ten Native American men and women who were descended from Mohawk, Hopi, Winnebago, and San Blas tribes.They have performed throughout the US fulfilling their mission to preserve and present their diverse culture, and to express their unique relationship to the land and landscapes.
