The Vast Unknown: America’s First Ascent of Everest; Author Event with Broughton Coburn at Bedford Playhouse

The Vast Unknown is a harrowing, character-driven account of the first American expedition to Mt. Everest in the spring of 1963 and its legendary team of inspiring and troubled climbers, who suffered injuries, a near mutiny and a death on the journey. Now out of print — Limited books available.

Author Broughton Coburn will share stories and a photo slideshow from the book and the legacy of this epic story. Mr. Coburn is also a Nepalese conservation expert and avid explorer.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A, moderated by Don Weeden of The Weeden Foundation.
